Walk on the Land
David Wimpfheimer
Join naturalist and biologist David Wimpfheimer for a guided tour of the land at Commonweal, the southern end of Point Reyes National Seashore. This is a special opportunity to spend time on this land in the company of one of the most knowledgeable and popular naturalists of the area. David has been studying the birds of Point Reyes for more than 40 years and is equally passionate about the unique geology and diverse habitats of the area. Nesting birds are at the peak of activity and we will focus on their identification by sight and sound as we walk along the forest trails. The marine ecosystem is incredibly productive and we will also be hoping for a view of Gray Whales that are migrating along the coast from the bluffs.

David Wimpfheimer
David Wimpfheimer is a biologist and naturalist with a passion for the birds and natural history of the American West. David has been leading trips and expeditions for almost forty years, teaching classes for the Point Reyes Field Institute, Marin Agricultural Land Trust, and the California Academy of Sciences, as well as guiding tours in Mexico, Alaska, Scotland, and other regions for groups including the Smithsonian Institution, Wild Wings, and Road Scholar. He is especially knowledgeable about the Point Reyes peninsula where he has lived since 1980.
