Listen into this day-long training with Donald Abrams, M.D., one of the nation’s foremost integrative cancer care authorities. The training is designed for health professionals and for cancer advocates and navigators dedicated to helping others with informed choice in cancer. This training is part of Healing Circles, a new Commonweal curriculum for health professionals and others dedicated to enhancing supportive programs for people with cancer.

Dr. Abrams gives four presentations, each followed by a conversation with Commonweal’s Michael Lerner.

Donald Abrams, MD

Dr. Donald Abrams is a cancer and integrative medicine specialist at the UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Medicine at Mount Zion. Abrams provides integrative medicine consultations for cancer patients and has completed research in complementary and alternative therapies including mind-body treatments, botanical therapies, medical use of marijuana, and traditional Chinese medicine herbal therapies.

In addition to his role at the Osher center, he is chief of Hematology and Oncology at San Francisco General Hospital. Abrams co-edited the Oxford University Press text Integrative Oncology with Andrew Weil. He was president of the society for Integrative Oncology in 2010. He is a member of the National Cancer Institute’s Physician Data Query Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCI PDQ CAM) editorial board.
